SHAMBHALA MUSIC FESTIVAL DROPS LINEUP FOR SHAMBHALA AT HOME: A VIRTUAL STREAMING EVENT

SHAMBHALA MUSIC FESTIVAL DROPS SHAMBHALA AT HOME: A VIRTUAL STREAMING EVENT

Shambhala Music Festival, Canada’s longest-running electronic music festival, is proud to present Shambhala at Home, a virtual festival featuring over 40 DJs, performers, workshops, and more. The digital festival will stream on Mixcloud and is free of charge. Running from July 23-25, 2020, the digital festival will run over the same weekend that the 23rd Annual Shambhala Music Festival was to take place and comes just months after the festival announced it’s postponement.

The lineup for the event was released on July 8 and features a stacked roster of talent from across the globe, as well as workshops, yoga, and more. From up-and-comers, through to world-renowned DJs, the lineup reflects a heavy push from event organizers towards booking an inclusive and culturally diverse lineup. Featuring the likes of Claptone, Clozee, Craze, DJ Jazzy Jeff and so much more, the lineup is slated to be a fan favorite with the Shambhala Family.

“We were beyond devastated to postpone the festival this year after running consecutively for 22 years, so we are delighted to put this online event together and have a way to reconnect with our guests who, after many years, are family to us.

I know our ‘Farmily’ are warriors of the heart. Together, through this event, I want us all to set the intention for next years’ festival to move beyond our fear and to be a place where we can love the strangers that we meet on the dance floor.” – Jimmy Bundschuh, Festival Founder & Owner.

Shambhala began in 1998 as a grassroots gathering of 500 people on founder Jimmy Bundschuh’s family farm in Salmo British Columbia. Today, Shambhala Music Festival is still Canada’s longest-running electronic dance music festival. The independently-run music festival takes place annually on a breathtaking family-run farm in Salmo, British Columbia.  Each year festival-goers have the chance to experience the best of what nature has to offer throughout four blissful days while witnessing hundreds of world-class artists across six unique stages, each curated and run by their own stage directors.

RSVP to the Facebook Event for all the details. A full event schedule will be released closer to the event dates.

Sonic Bloom Photo Recap 2018

September 2, 2018 By Michael Morahan Leave a Comment

Sonic Bloom 2018 Photo Recap

This year at Sonic Bloom the music was on fire as usual.  Three main stages running until 2am and one stage running until sun-rise with music until 6am.  The workshops begin at 8 am so there is really only two hours of ‘off-time’ per day all four days of the festival.  The music and grooves transitioned seamlessly as different artists plugged in while others finished out their set.  The main stage has a ‘tween’ stage, which if you are not familiar with the term is a small stage right next to the main stage and features short usually under 30min performances while the main stage undergoes a set change.  This is the optimal way to transition on a large stage while maintaining the audience’s attention and attendance.

With thee stages going simultaneously for 8 hours (with three stages that is actually 24 hours of live performances compressed in time and space within walking distance), which provides an opportunity for more musicians to be heard and benefit from the cross-pollination of musical audiences.   The river ran dry but the music and shaded hammocks at the hummingbird stage provided a welcome mid day napping location.  There is no shortage of amazing talent and the careful curation of musical acts that preform ensure a high threshold and a healthy diversity while still being true to the festivals electronic roots.

Photos will never capture sound so seek out good listen to new music.  Click here to listen to live tracks from Sonic Bloom 2018.
