April 17, 2017 – Following the widely-successful release of his full-length studio album Terminally iLL earlier this spring, San Francisco-based producer ill.Gates has partnered with fellow pioneer of the West Coast Bass Movement Stephan Jacobs, and production services website ProducerDJ to invite rising producers to enter the most epic contest of 2017 offering up more than $16,000 in prizes! From now until June 12, 2017, aspiring remix maestros from across the globe can submit their take on ill.Gates’ and Stephan Jacobs’ massive track ‘Flying’ featuring Jackie Rain with winners announced June 23.
Described as a beautifully contrasting dark yet uplifting tune, the original ‘Flying’ blends future bass and glitch hop into a catch, sub-flexing bass-heavy summer anthem offering up an intricate melody for ill.Gates Remix Contest participants to reimagine. Amateur DJs and producers from all genres and styles are encouraged to flex their remix skills and submit their version of ‘Flying’ to SKIO Music where the top three tracks will be selected by ill.Gates alongside special guest judges, and released via brand new label Producer DoJo. Additional prizes include professional audio plugins, hardware controllers, music production tools + courses, and exclusive opportunities to collaborate with ill.Gates and his vast network of musical geniuses, courtesy of sponsors ProducerDJ, Plugin Alliance, SUBPAC, Sesh, Sugar Bytes, Dave Smith Instruments, Ableton, KJ Sawka, Nunich, Mr.Bill, Warp Academy, Tom Cosm, Keith McMillen Instruments (KMI), Maschine Tutorials, iZotope, and LANDR. See grand prize details below!
Looking to learn from the best before entering the contest? DJs and producers of all skill levels can learn the iLL Methodology behind remixing from ill.Gates’ free video course available now via ProducerDJ. The course reveals five simple yet extraordinary ways to unblock your creativity and to help producers finish songs as quickly and effectively as possible. Deemed “life-changing” and “incredible” by users, iLL Methodology is an essential learning tool for mastering beats.
ill.Gates’ first, full-length studio album since 2011, Terminally iLL is part of a series of airport-themed albums by ill.Gates. Set to release later this summer, second in the series is album Departures, which will feature left field, experimental, and out of character tracks inspired by festivals like Shambhala and Burning Man. On the horizon for ill.Gates is a whirlwind year, with marquee performances scheduled at Bassnectar’s Atlantic City Event, California’s Lightning in a Bottle festival plus stops throughout many U.S. cities — check out his upcoming tour schedule below.

Scott Brown, AKA Surfing SoundWaves, returns to FreioMusic. The 22 year old Denver native illuminates your mind with his smooth and tasty style of music. The bass hits heavy and the leads ride smooth like Orangatang wheels. Here are two tracks from Surfing SoundWave’s upcoming EP “Guerilla Warfare” (due to drop late this fall) for free download! Each jam has it’s own distinct journey and feel. The Cozza Frenzy Remix bangs hard, making use of heavy leads and phat sub-bass. “Guerilla Warfare” (the title track) is a deep, ominous ride through the unknown. This young producer really shows promise as he continues to improve and explore his sound. The big stages are calling for Surfing SoundWaves!

Freio brings you some deep-south dub! Coming at you from Ft. Worth, Texas, here is Night Wave. In the hard-hitting world that is dubstep, Eric Sauber is a heavy weight favorite. As the production mastermind behind Night Wave, Eric Sauber is one of the heaviest, filthiest, dub-face-makin’ music producers to reach my ears. The haunting combination of incredibly crisp, samples into deep, dark lows is simply one of a kind. Take some time, let the beat soak into your skin. This is some dubstep that you simlpy cannot afford to miss. For booking or any other inquiries, hit Eric up at ericjsauber@gmail.com, and of course, become a fan by visiting the links at the bottom. Big ups to Night Wave, mad respect for the work you put into your music. Onward!

This fresh, new track emerged from the combination and infusion of two young artists styles, Pat Jackman of PeAnuT and Scott Brown of Surfing SoundWaves. Dive into this heavy, wobble filled universe that truly is the beginning of a fantastic duo. Close your eyes, open your ears, and feel your body lift from the ground and into a new reality.

Gucci Gucci ft Yung Hamm-Mr RaW-Still RaW
Young Hamm = Hip-HoP Hit from the West!
Young Hamm, with some help from Mr. RaW, laid it down smooth with some weezy inspired vocals, sick verses, slick choruses and a swag to match. Their approach, leave the instrumental as is, and follow the structure of the original song. Every chorus is slightly different, which shows an attention to detail, and development throughout the song. The lyrics are energized, driven, and of course creative.
“Lyrically a new drug like crack and Novocain. When I drop you know I came a meateater, but steezer, a beat eater. I merk the track, I guess for me its easier” -Mr. RaW. “Crush’n on Kreayshawn!” -Young Hamm
From a mixing/mastering standpoint, the vocals were nicely placed in the front of the mix with a subtle but helpful reverb + echo. How to be a Hip Hop Hit! To all the musically inspired youth readers out there, take note~ Listen to Young Hamm’s new album. My favorite track: #8 Feel Me
Rope-A-Dope – A term popularized by Muhammad Ali who would let the opponent think they’ve won, and then unexpectedly lash out for the win. Rope-A-Dope.
Rope-A-Dope by HAMMER AND CHAMPION
Young Hamm, a twenty-one year-old with a hold on his dreams and his eyes on the Billboard charts. Colorado, not known for rap, will be happy to have Young Hamm on the frontline. The Rope-A-Dope album has left CO fans wanting more. Hammer’s ever evolving stash of lyrical goodness doesn’t just sound good to the ears, but gets a message across, forcing listeners to think deeper. Young Hamm speaks for his generation and knows what people want to hear, REAL music. Rap with a purpose.
Collaborations include:
Champion, Mr.RaW, The Offense, K.O., & Rawdy

4ESH! USA- Miami, Florida
Gucci Gucci (4ESH!’s Dubstep FreioRemix)
Style and Influences:
“4ESH! started when myself (Alejandro Diaz “DT0X”) and my long time high school friend (Javier Lopez “Avilo”) decided to collab and create music. I started when I was 17 and now we are 23 and 25. We love creating all genres of electronic music but prefer electro house. We have too many influences both in our genre and outside said genre to name. We have a nice following here in Miami but want to expand our horizon.”

Style and Influences:
“I started writing music at the age of 13 and recorded my first song on my 14th birthday. I remember that day like it was just yesterday, I rapped over Nas, Lil Wayne, and Cassidy instrumentals. Since a young age i had always loved music and had that feeling that not only could i create music, but i could be good if not great at it. If i had to make a Top 5 MC list it would be 2pac,Nas,Andre 3000,Lauryn Hill and Common, No specific order. These are the MC’s who inspired me the most, but i studied so many more if not everyone before me. I love what the young/new up and coming artist are doing for the game (J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, K.R.I.T.,Curren$y, Wale) and i think that its up to US to bring it back to what people grew to love. With my music i try to be unique and not just chase after the next hit song. I push hard to make music that I want to make first, then make sure it is something real and easy to relate to. I love to make people think and broaden their imagination while listening to my music, rather it be just a lyric that might go over your head or a whole song concept that makes you want to dig deeper. My main goals with my music are just to be heard and make a person feel emotions while listening, even angry. If i know i can make a person upset and piss them off with my music, then i know its possible to make them smile, then laugh, cry then ultimately go out and search for their biological parents or something. The last but first thing that i do it for is my city, DENVER. There is so much unheard talent out here it kills me to listen to ‘local’ artist. I have always said i dont care if im the first through the door, the last, or the most famous. I will be satisfied knowing that i played a role in opening the door for this ‘Denver Renaissance Movement’. I know everyone cant be the star, If im not a Martin Luther King, what’s wrong with being W.E.B. DuBois?

“I’ve been producing music for about six years, four of which were while studying Music Technology at the University of Oregon. I grew up listening to groups like the Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim, and Mr. Oizo, but since school I have found a deep appreciation for people like Stockhausen, Cage, and Applebaum. I mix in all of that together with my trumpet, and that makes Clodewerks.”
