Envision Festival 2015

October 29, 2014 By Molly Buckiewicz Leave a Comment

Envision Festival 2015

  Vive La Experiencia!!

The fifth annual Envision Festival returns to the breathtaking shores of Uvita, Costa Rica,

February 26 through March 1, 2015 with the release of their Official 2015 Video and first music headliner announcement.

Get inspired. Watch the video here.

The festival just announced the first musical headliner, The Polish Ambassador, the world’s funkiest diplomat, with the rest of the lineup to be released soon. Past Envision headliners include Beats Antique, Tipper, Alex Grey, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Emancipator, Rising Appalachia, Papadosio, Rootz Underground, Midnite, The Lucent Dossier Experience, Quixotic, Random Rab, and Costa Rican favorite Sonámbulo.

Now in its fifth year, the magic of previous incarnations of Envision Festival has driven travelers of all types to the scenic beaches and exotic jungles of Costa Rica each February for world-class music, adventure tours, stimulating education, meeting new friends — and one epic party. In this little slice of paradise, explorers find more than a music and art festival, with an abundance of life-changing experiences that enrich the senses and open the mind.  Globally-renowned performance artists create whimsical environments, along with interactive art installations and live painters. Yoga teachers from around the world teach rapturous classes for all levels, from those looking to expand their existing master practice to those  stepping onto the mat for the first time.

Dance under the stars all night and play all day — swimming, surfing, cliff diving and more. Hike to an enchanted waterfall and make lifelong connections in the Village. As the sun dips below the rim of the Pacific, hundreds of beautiful smiling faces glow in the remaining crimson rays on the beach, gathering to grow, celebrate and create together, to implement permaculture principles, and manifest plans that have been years in the works.

Keep your eyes peeled for the initial lineup coming soon. Discount Early Bird tickets are on sale now. Please sign up for the newsletter, read more about previous Envision Festivals on the website, and visit the links below.  Pura Vida!

About Envision Festival:

Envision festival is an annual gathering in Costa Rica that seeks to provide a platform for different cultures to inspire one another to co-create sustainable community and practice yoga, spirituality, art, music, dance performance, education, and acknowledge our fundamental connection with nature.
At the festival’s core, the Envision organizers are leaders of a sustainable permaculture movement that is blossoming throughout Costa Rica.  With initiatives such as banning single use tableware in lieu of bamboo and banana leaf alternatives, a festival wide composting system, green building and multiple spaces dedicated entirely to environmental education, it is clear that the intention runs deep.  Costa Rica, a world leader in eco-local awareness, serves as the perfect backdrop for such initiatives and the festival itself is designed to provide an example of a style of communal living that is more attainable than ever in an impressively hospitable and lush growing environment.

Sonic Bloom Artist Interviews

July 19, 2013 By FreioMusic Leave a Comment

I was lucky enough to be able to attend the beautiful and amazing festival that was Sonic Bloom this year. The whole event was a success even with a few hiccups along the way. Before I attended the event, I got to make a couple phone interviews with artists Govinda, Gaudi, David Starfire, and Michael Garfield.

Govinda specializes in electronic music incorporated with live viola:

Gaudi has been making music for 33 years and never lets anything hold him back:

David Starfire hones in on his craft on making tribal beats:

Michael Garfield is an experimental musician and Sonic Bloom live art director:

I would like to personally thank each and every one of these artists for taking their time to have these discussions with me on behalf of FreioMusic. Thank you

Wanderlust Wednesday Presents ROCKTIN GROVE

October 10, 2012 By Sober_Raver Leave a Comment

Boulder based and CU buffed band, Rocktin Grove, is jamming its way through the Colorado music scene. With an original sound that seamlessly blends together a wide variety of genres, Rocktin Grove has a little get-down for everyone. From funked out bluegrass twang to hot latin soul, their sound is something uniquely robust and not to be missed. The seven member group, with two years of jam-tastic rocking under their belts, has incredible ‘get-yo-feet-movin” potential to break from their Front Range Colorado stage to a national one. Fans of the band describe the sound as “funky bluegrass awesomeness” and as an interpretation of music they have all always loved transformed into something new and original. The band says, “Calling Boulder, Colorado our home, the mountains, beautiful blue sky, and deep powder keep us loving life and loving music.” Amen.

Meet the boys:

Jon Kimbell- Mandolin/Vocals
Will Viitanen- Percussion
Wilson Harwood- Electric Guitar/Banjo/Vocals/Tres – with “get the cougars goin'” and “gangsta banjo” talent
Adrian Flynt- Bass/Vocals
Nate Luebbe- Mandolin/Violin/Vocals
Garrett Cropsey- Alto Saxophone/Vocals
Theo Farver- Acoustic Guitar/Harmonica/Percussion/Vocals/Trumpet

My personal favorite: Crowfoot Funk…it will get you going! Hot damn!

Wanderlust Wednesday- The Jam Band of Our Time

June 13, 2012 By Sober_Raver Leave a Comment

I am pleased to bring back the seven member, mind blowing musical magic that is Eufórquestra. Fusing genres with their funk fed dance vibration, they throw one hell of a party. This, my friends, is the jam band of our time. If your looking to seriously get down and send your ears straight to nirvana, Eufórquestra’s summer shows are where you need to be. They bring an unmatched energy and dynamic instrumentation that throws them into the jam band pot with musicians like Phish and String Cheese Incident. They keep the audience guessing as they transform rock into funk into afrobeat and back again. Don’t believe me? Check out their newly released live album, free for download! HERE she blows.

Euforquestra

Euforquestra from Fort Collins, Colorado

“Euforquestra planted their Euphoric Vibration on the West Coast!”

The seven member band, Eufórquestra, now hailing from Fort Collins, CO, is a funky, reggae infused, soul party not to be missed. Their music, steeped in a hot saxophone sound, invokes serious get down on the dance floor. Combining influences from Cuba, Brazil, and West Africa, the smooth rhythm is impossible not to groove to. The sound is original, an incredible display of musical creativity and freedom. Not limited to one genre, this band has a little bit of something to offer for everyone. At their performance last weekend in Portland, Oregon, the audience was all smiles, cheers-ing to good music and getting their funky dance on. If you find yourself the Colorado way, the band with be joining Kyle Hollingsworth Band (keyboardist of String Cheese Incident) this March for his BrewSki Tour. This is a jam sesh not to be missed my friends.

Carlos Rada: from Caracas, Venezuela

Carlos, a 36 year-old from Venezuela, started playing the keyboard at age 17.  After learning the keys, Carlos learned how to sing, play the guitar, laptop, and the cuatro. Carlos is inspired by artists such as:  BB King, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, Tina Turner, and Simon Diaz.   have-a-listen!~)

Los niños que perdieron la inocencia by Carlos Rada (El musico)

Carlos’s music varies, as is illustrated by his description of his music.  Carlos describes his music as: “Blues, House, Latin, Rock, and World.” This track was released within the last month and is exploring a different direction than other tracks released on soundcloud, the blues (possibly Latin Jazz mixed with rock drums?)… Listen for your self:
