The Freio Music Podcast – Launch & Mission
I am excited to finally announce the launch of something I have been working on for years. I have been interviewing artists since this website was launched back in late 2010. I have been improving my interview skills, although much improvement is still necessary. I will never reach perfection, but I suppose that is what being a human is, imperfect. I have been acquiring recording gear continuously and honing my audio mixing skills. It is about time to share some of that with you today.
To all of those musicians who had to suffer through my early efforts, like Odesza who cautiously accepted one of their first recorded interviews in the back of their tour bus in Eugene during my college years with an early contributor to the blog Jeremy, thank you! I am glad to say that my unpublished interview with Odesza, after a couple too many beers (on my part), without a script, and only an iPhone to record it, did not hinder the band’s massive success. It has been a long but intentional process, from Odesza to fumbling telephone interviews with other young and rising artists from across the country, to mucking up an interview with GreenSky Bluegrass in person, as I grappled with interviewing a large band, to my first publishable interview with HÄANA, where I failed to properly mic (record) myself.
This HÄANA interview will be the first official episode of the podcast and I have come to terms with my imperfections. I feel that, like most artists, I must also come to terms with my voice, sound, and style.
The days, weeks, months and truthfully years that have led up to this point in time, have been interlaced with excitement and self-doubt. I am sure there will be some haters that will love to chime in and point out my errors or just generally disapprove of my style, like when I was a Radio DJ on campus during my college years. I will embrace the haters, for who they are, as I know they truly provide more fuel to my fire. To all of you who will join me on this podcast journey, thank you! I look forward to your comments, critiques, and suggestions of how to improve the podcast moving forward.
It is only fair to publish my journey from here on out. Out of respect for everyone who has spent some time with me over the years and putting up with my questions and insistent requests, I vow to publish these interviews in a timely manner with at least one interview on the first of each month.
Thank you for joining me on this podcast journey.
