How to find buy and own your own domain name!

This includes all .com .org .net etc… domain names.

Step 1: Why do you want a domain?

If you are an artist, you probably don’t have a whole lot of excess funds in the bank account.  A web site costs money, you must come to grips with this reality.  To own a domain you need to register it and claim it for a duration of time.  After you own your domain, you can build your website!  You could use WordPress, Wix, Druple, or any other Content Management System, to help you organize your web content and help it get found by people searching the web on google.

Well for start try searching for your dream domain name, perhaps your band’s name, in your browser. Open a new tab and search for it.

Is your domain name ialready taken?  Try again! (dont give up)

If your potential domain name is not taken: think twice, walk around the block and ponder on the name, try a couple of others, and then commit to it with all your heart~!

Step 2: Check your funds

To buy an domain name is usually under 10$.  I must confess that I have experience with go-daddy and thus far have no serous complaints other than the fact that they try to sell you on much more than you need.  That is why I suggest, knowing what you want to buy before you head over to their website to purchase it.  If you are interested: GoDaddy:   .COMs for $5.99 per year for the 1st year! or NameCheap: Namecheap.com - Cheap domain name registration, renewal and transfers - Free SSL Certificates - Web Hosting  or search for other domain retailers:

Ok next, you want yourbandname.com and your band mates all love the idea, think about what you want your page to look like.  Do you know

button

how to code a webpage?

if so great! if not, hakuna-matata! (no worries)! there are tools available for free, they are open sourced, that means they are built by people all over the world! A couple of useful examples of such open-sourced CMS(content management systems) software are ‘WordPress or Druple’.  You can install either onto your domain name if you have hosting!

Special Offer - $5.99 .coms at GoDaddy.com!

Step 3: Decide whether or not you need hosting.

There are many hosting options out there.  You can get renuable solar & wind powered hosting for a slightly higher cost, or you can choose the lowest price.  It is up to you to compair and decide what is right for you.  Go Daddy also has a hosting option if you dont want to own your servers.  You can check out their hosting options if you click on the  go-daddy logo below,GoDaddy - World's #1 Domain Registrar

*Please note, go daddy’s standard ‘insta page’ is not fully functional! if you are not going to buy hosting, i recommend checking out soundcloud, tumblr, and wordpress.com, for free websites (without owning the domain).  If you want to own the doman name, you need to buy it if you are in the united states and I believe it holds for the Word Wide Web standards

An other option is: Namecheap.com - Cheap domain name registration, renewal and transfers - Free SSL Certificates - Web Hosting
